Project overview

Payhost is a payment infrastructure product. Merchants use it to accept payments, hold balances across currencies, and manage operations, settlements, reports, and team access from a single admin panel.

Problem

Merchants couldn't read account health in one place. Balances lived on one screen, operations on another, settlements on a third — none agreed on the same time window. Reports came as static exports. Team access was managed elsewhere. The panel had grown feature by feature, not around how operators actually worked.

Limited Research Access

Due to NDA restrictions, research was based on internal insights and stakeholder feedback.

Familiar Workflows

The redesign had to improve clarity without forcing operators to relearn everyday flows.

Key insights

Full data has to fit inside each cell.

Cell space matters more than row width — a cut-off ID or amount makes the row useless.

Operators could only expand rules one at a time, never see the full picture at once.

Zebra striping was tiring on daily use

Alternating rows strained the eyes over long sessions. Neutral rows worked better.

Pagination slows process

Users scan hundreds of rows at once — clicking through pages broke the flow.

Key desicion

Three interactions were redesigned around the canvas itself — how operators build a routing flow from scratch, resolve errors with AI assistance, and step in manually when needed.

Merchants read total availability, balance movement, and operation health from one scrollable view, without opening a report.

Merchants compare every currency wallet side by side — hold, rolling reserve, overdraft broken out per balance

Merchants add a manual operation and see it land in the same table they use to monitor live traffic, without a separate form flow.

Final interface

The new panel pulls availability, balances, operations, reports, settlements, and user access into a single admin surface — merchants read their day in one scroll instead of switching between five screens.

Impact

The canvas turned routing logic into a visible path — operators can follow the flow from condition to provider
