Payments Admin Panel

Designed a Checkout.com Dashboard workspace for enterprise payment teams to monitor performance, configure routing rules, investigate failed payments, and manage settlements across providers and payment methods.
Designed a payment routing admin panel that helps operators manage rules,
monitor traffic, and reduce manual errors
in high-volume payment flows.

Project overview

At Checkout.com, I worked on the Merchant Dashboard experience for payment routing and operations. The product helps enterprise merchants manage payment flows, routing rules, provider performance, transaction monitoring, settlements, and conversion through a single dashboard and API-based infrastructure.

Problem

As payment volume scaled across regions, providers, merchant payment teams needed faster ways to review routing logic, monitor performance, investigate failed payments, and adjust traffic allocation. Existing workflows were too dense: routing rules were hard to scan, filters were overloaded, and critical actions required too much manual effort.

Goals

We focused on three levels of impact: better merchant payment workflows, more efficient payment operations, and measurable improvements in routing accuracy and operational speed.

Business Efficiency

Reduce the cost of manual routing errors

Business Efficiency

Shorten the time spent on routine payment operations.

Business Efficiency

Create reusable patterns for faster merchant onboarding.

Success Metrics

Cut time spent on payment operations tasks by 30%.

Success Metrics

Improve team satisfaction through clearer workflows.

Constraints

Familiar Workflows

The redesign had to improve clarity without forcing payment teams to relearn their daily routing, monitoring, and settlement workflows.

System Constraints

Solutions had to fit existing payment infrastructure, API logic, provider configurations, data structures, and technical limitations.

Limited Research Access

Due to NDA, research was based on stakeholder interviews, internal product insights, support feedback, and workflow audits.

Design System Constraints

The interface had to stay aligned with the existing Checkout design system, component library, table patterns, form behavior.

Key Insights

Key desicions

Three key interactions were redesigned to make routing rules easier to review, update, and control during daily payment operations.

Payment teams can expand a rule, review its logic, and add conditions without leaving the table context.

Comments help teams capture operational notes directly inside routing rules.

Traffic can be distributed automatically between routes to reduce manual work and improve control.

Final interface

The final design brings routing rules, payment conditions, provider status, operational comments, and traffic controls into a clearer merchant payment workspace.

Impact

The redesigned routing experience improved daily payment operations by making rules easier to find, actions clearer, and traffic management faster.
